Marcin Orlowski is a pro snowboarder who grew up shredding Mountains in Poland. He now resides in Perth, Western Australia. A huge distance away from any real snow. Marcin just returned from a snowboard trip through parts of Europe. I caught up with the dude to quiz him about his travels and this is what he had to say....

Marcin welcome back. First up, when did you grace our planet with your presence? 18th April 1978

Years snowboarding:15

So, where did you grow up: Near the Sudeten Mountains, Poland

You recently went on a snowboard trip to Europe, covering Poland and the Czech Republic, how was it?
It was sick mate. I haven't gone back to Poland in 5 years since moving to Australia, so it was quite emotional for myself and my family and friends. Europe is very friendly and loose, especially Eastern Europe,I mean they sell booze at the bakery and in servos there, too.

Who went along for the trip?
Myself and the missus plus all my shred mates from Poland.
Shout outs to Rozpierdol and Snowjunkie crews.

What were the highlights of your trip?
Getting chased out of a street spot in an old coal mine, where I was bomb dropping from the processing tower in like this full-on industrial complex.I got one shot at it and then this security guard came out of nowhere yelling and making threats, so we had to jump into the car and ride away with full snowboard kit on. That was intense.

Sounds gnarly. Where did you have the most fun riding?
The coolest joint of the whole Euro roadtrip would have to be Pec Ski Resort in the Krkonose Mountains,Czech Republic. It was the last boarding on the trip and we scored a perfect bluebird day with soft snow there. We lapped the mountain forever with mates having fun and hitting everything, then finished the day up up with a glass of quality Radler (local beer).Good times.

And who took the photos you sent over?
All those photos were shot by my friend from Poland Michal Broniewicz. He's a very talented photog and has a good eye for scoping out terrain features. You can view some of his works on his website- www.snowbron.ownlog.com

Can you tell us a little about what's going on in each photo?
The first spot we went to was this bridge over a busy ski path.
Michal made me build the jump in front of the railing,so I had to jump this step down gap into like 10 foot transition, which is not very long if you are a snowboarder. That was fun though,I got a Method there and a bs 180 melon into this tiny tranny.
Second spot was kinda my idea.I wanted to hit this pole with a bunch of tail/nose revert combos. We got one good shot there,a fs 360 nose tap.Great day shooting photos.Oh,by the way that spot is called Praded Mountain,Czech Republic.

How is it living in Perth being a snowboarder,it must drive you mad being so far away from any real snow?
Living in Perth is nice, because it reminds me of the other stuff that's important in life like walking barefoot in Summer, being lazy down the beach, chilling with my fiancée Ania, hanging out with mates skateboarding Manning Park or Subiaco Bowl and surfing spots up and down the Western Aussie coast. On the other hand, Perth is far from all the good snowboard spots. As far as getting some shots or going to comps, it's hard to get the job done. So to keep myself in the snowboarding loop,I work as a Technician and Sales person down at Mainpeak Australia shop in Perth.

Shout-outs?
Thanks a lot for ongoing support to God, my girl, family and good friends. Cheers to Mark at Dragon, Shane at Burton, Mandy at Monkie, Adam at Cortoz, John and Richard at Mainpeak, Michal at Snowjunkie, all my mates here and overseas,2KMA crew represent.Word!

Cheers for your time mate.
