Perth’s Own Motivated Stoners
It's been a long time coming, but local Perth lads The Scotch Of Saint James have finally released their debut LP 'Vigilante Neck Tie Party,' and it's absolutely rad.
If you are riding the wave of cool-as-hell stoner rock at the moment then this album is for you. None of that psychedelic Tame Impala stuff (but more on that another time), this is straight up, rock. Or as the boys like to refer to it, 'motivated stoner rock.' There are hints of Black Rebel Motorcycle club, pinches of Supergrass and a tinge of Queens Of The Stoneage. Some songs are even vaguely reminiscent of Kasabian's latest effort. In case you can't tell, their style is kinda hard to pin down, which is what makes them so freaking good.
Top pick would have to be 'Bloated Country Pride,' a bit of a fist shake to the southern cross tattooed jerk offs who are everywhere now. You know the ones.
If you get a chance, they will be gigging around Perth and Australia from mid April. Check them out on their Myspace page www.myspace.com/thescotchofsaintjames
