The 2010 Drug Aware Pro is in full flight and good ol' hueys blessed competitors and spectators with a solid 2.5m swell and light Easterly winds. The Men’s Second Round action kicked off this morning at Margaret River in sensational conditions at Surfers’ Point.

Local lad and current World Number 1 Taj Burrow faced up against Glenn Hall (IRE), Gony Zubizarreta (ESP) and Raoni Monteiro (BRA) in the first Heat. Light Easterly winds and a solid 2.5m swell tested the Heat 1 surfers as they struggled to find the best take off spot. A number of big sets went unridden early in the heat before Burrow put together a couple of solid scoring waves to easily win through to the Round of 48. After his heat win, Burrow said, “It is good to get the first heat out of the way. The conditions today are about perfect for Margaret River”.

The epic conditions gracing Margaret River at the moment are also matched by a quality field of competitors. Coming up in the second round heats later today are defending Champion Daniel Ross (H4), Brazilian Adriano De Souza (H5), Aussie young gun Owen Wright (H7), Hawaiian Fredrick Patacchia (H8), CJ and Damien Hobgood (H9/H17), Top 3 ranked Australian Bede Durbidge (H12), World Champion Mick Fanning against local legend Jake Paterson (H13), whilst past event winner Neco Padaratz from Brazil takes to the water in Heat 19.
